ABEL Appoint Engineering Manager

ABEL are delighted to announce the appointment of Richard Mehta to Engineering Manager, as a result of a restructure of the Engineering Team.

Richard, who originally joined ABEL in October 2017 as a Project Engineer, is promoted to the new role in response to the continued growth and expansion of the Engineering Team.

With over 16 years’ experience in electrical and electronic engineering across industry, Richard started out his career as a design draughtsperson. After working his way up through the ranks and gaining his HNC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, he became a Project Engineer developing skills in project management, LV design, PLC and commissioning worldwide.

His new role at ABEL sees him responsible for the small team of Project Engineers, providing technical support and guidance in all projects. His specialist knowledge also lends to him handling his own portfolio of client projects. As well as the day-to-day management and development of the team, he is also playing a key role in the work ABEL is undertaking to implement and improve business processes and procedures.

Richard comments “I am really excited at the challenge and opportunities this new role brings. We are a small but very efficient team of engineers with complementary engineering disciplines spanning many different industry sectors. I am looking forward to working with the Directors to continue to grow the business and expand the team further.”

The restructure has also resulted in another internal promotion. Paul Sheppard is appointed to Production Manager, a dual role which sees him fulfilling a supervisory function to the Workshop Team, whilst still providing his valuable engineering knowledge and experience as a Design Engineer.

Finally, the team is expanded with the recent appointment of Lee Hinde, who joins as a Project Software Engineer. He brings with him a wealth of experience in PLC / SCADA in the Petro-chemical industry plus more.
